Sentient Tracker

The Industry’s Best Moving Target Indicator Combined with AI

Sentient Tracker adds artificial intelligence to Kestrel’s best-in-class moving target indicator and the 20 years of computer vision R&D behind it. AI-enabled tracking allows operators to automatically detect moving objects within electro-optical (EO) or infrared (IR) full-motion video from uncrewed and crewed aircraft. It has never been easier to swiftly transform raw data into actionable intelligence.

Stop Looking Through Soda Straws

Built upon the technology readiness level (TRL) 9 of Kestrel, Sentient Tracker autonomously identifies moving objects by maximizing detection across areas 20 times larger than the narrowest of field of view, eliminating the “soda-straw effect.” The system enhances tracking persistence through the innovative use of “breadcrumbs,” ensuring that operators never lose sight of the bigger picture.

Target Tracking in Complex Environments

The AI analytic for MTI processing enhances detection of moving targets and accuracy of the detection, reduces false alarms by up to four times and minimizes ghost detections. Sentient Tracker provides real-time situational awareness like MTI mode in radar for a wider range of aircraft that are not always suitable for radar. As radial speed is not a factor, Sentient Tracker detects both fast and slow moving targets including people and vehicles over challenging terrain.

Enhanced Operational Capabilities

Sentient Tracker, when combined with full-motion video gimbal systems, enhances mission outcomes across various sectors by maximizing coverage area and minimizing cognitive load on operators. Operations include: law enforcement, counter-drug trafficking, marine life protection, anti-smuggling, counter-piracy, intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, reconnaissance (ISTAR), and search and rescue.

Land

Detects small moving objects such as vehicles and dismounts in diverse environments (desert, urban, mountainous).

Maritime

Detects moving and stationary objects like boats, vessels, and people in water.

In certain maritime environments and GPU/compute limited hardware, Sentient Tracker is not needed and Kestrel provides the best-in-class motion tracking capability.

Search and Rescue

Specifically detects objects with high-visibility markings, such as life jackets, in maritime settings.

Key Features + Capabilities

Sentient Tracker enables passive, autonomous detections of objects on the edge, alerting operators to investigate slight movement that are less visible to the human eye. This real-time interface supports various features crucial for mission planning and execution.

01

Mission Versatility

Switch between land, maritime, and SAR modes. Works with ISR systems, mission systems, sensors, RVTs and ground control stations.

02

Demonstrated Effectiveness

Sentient Tracker has demonstrated up to four times more detections during SAR, anti-drug and human trafficking operations. Improved tracking persistence for moving targets passing each other and objects moving through short obstructions.

03

Small Object Detection

Detects objects as small as 2×2 pixels, which are hard to spot with the human eye. Up to four times increase in the number of target detections. Improved tracking persistence of multiple targets.

04

Real-time Playback and Recording

Switches between synchronized playback with the targeting system and real-time video playback with delayed target display. Features include recording, playback, and pausing of imagery with control over the video saving path.

05

Easy To Use

Intuitive controls for toggling various display features, such as target identification, breadcrumb trails, and full-screen mode. Editable settings for overlay masks and dead pixel masking to enhance visual clarity.

06

Sensitivity and Horizon Masking

Adjustable sensitivity settings to control detection performance, accounting for platform and sensor stability. Horizon masking capabilities to manually adjust horizontal masks, beneficial for masking out dynamically shifting shorelines or horizons.
